Welcome to Cosmo HQ Review, the corner of the internet where our team of beauty-obsessed editors shares their unfiltered, honest thoughts on the latest and greatest launches in skin, hair, makeup, and fragrance...just for you.

Finding the perfect neutral eyeshadow palette is one of the toughest beauty tasks—perhaps only rivaled by matching your lipstick to your skin tone or nailing down your exact foundation shade. The ideal neutral palette should be eye-brightening, blendable, and versatile enough to look good whether you're using it for a quick five-minute face or as part of a full-glam moment. And, most importantly, you should be able to use all the shades equally—not just hit pan on one or two.

Patrick Ta's latest launch promises to check all these boxes. The Patrick Ta Major Dimension Essential Artistry Edit Eyeshadow Palettes include a mix of warm and cool powder shadows that are curated into three palettes designed specifically for fair, medium, and deep skin tones.

Cosmo editors with varying makeup skills and skin tones put the three palettes to the test. Keep reading for our honest review of the Major Dimension Essential Artistry Edit Eyeshadow Palettes, plus pics of us wearing the light, medium, and deep shades.

The extent of my eye makeup abilities is swiping on a single cream shadow and calling it a day (as a beauty editor, it's embarrassing, I know). So I decided that testing this palette would be the perfect opportunity to improve my eyeshadow skills. I usually go for a bit of shimmer or glow, so I was a bit hesitant at first since these shades appear matte, but they’re surprisingly soft thanks to the hyaluronic acid- and squalane-infused formula. They lean more natural than flat matte, giving my lids a blurred, effortless look.

Beyond my lack of blending skills, another reason I rarely use palettes is that I always end up reaching for the same shade over and over, leaving the rest of them to sit in my vanity untouched for years. But since these neutral shades cater to specific skin tones, this palette had everything my fair skin needed for a complete eye look. I didn’t even need a full smokey-eye effect for it to look good—any two or three shades layered together blended beautifully on my lids.

The beauty of this palette lies in its versatility—every shade is wearable on its own, or complementary alongside the other hues. It actually made me excited to play with eyeshadow instead of being intimidated by it. I even loved using the darkest brown shade to get a subtle eyeliner effect along my lash line.

I’m an eyeshadow girl through and through. I always have a full eye look going on, even if I'm just going to the airport. So when I heard Patrick Ta's neutral palette line had a version that was specifically tailored for medium skin, I was pumped. My first impression was how soft and blendable the formula is, making it perfect for using an array of colors to achieve a smokey eye. Some mattes can be chalky or rough, but my brushes transferred these effortlessly and applied to my lid with ease. I wore it for a week straight without touching any of my other palettes (and I have a lot), and it was the only one I packed for a two-week Europe trip for a wedding (pictured below).

This is my ideal shade range for any neutral eye look, offering versatile colors that can take me from a subtle daytime vibe to a bold, sultry evening look. Every shade is easy to layer and blend, so whether you’re a die-hard eyeshadow fan like me or just looking for a reliable palette for neutral looks, this one delivers.

I’m not an eyeshadow girlie. I even wear big statement eyeglasses to help distract from the fact that I’m shadow-less more than 90 percent of the time. I admittedly didn’t have high hopes that this particular palette would convert me, but I decided to road test the hues before a girls' night out, while going for a cute and classy look.

I was immediately a fan of the texture of the shadows. They blend effortlessly and are perfect for someone like me who wants a high color payoff without constantly building up the shadow, yet still wants the flexibility to blend the pigment around once it hits the skin. I added a touch of shimmer on top to give the neutral matte a little extra pop. I can’t say I’ll be wearing eyeshadow every day now, but when I do, this palette is the one I’ll reach for.

    The final verdict:

Patrick Ta’s Major Dimension Essential Artistry Edit Palettes are an impressive collection of soft, blendable shades that make creating neutral looks effortless (and that's coming from an eyeshadow beginner). The thoughtful combination of warm and cool tones in each palette means every color works beautifully on fair, medium, or deep skin, so you won't find yourself only relying on one of the six shades. You can swipe on a single shade for a monochromatic look, or go all out with a smokey eye and even use the darkest shade as a soft liner. Plus, six shades for $44 isn’t a bad deal, considering Patrick Ta's sparkly duo shadows go for $42. At the price point, this palette feels like a wearable, everyday steal.
